- Eight consecutive batters reached base in a six-run fifth inning Friday night en route to the Cardinals' 11-6 win over the Marlins in Miami, They are now a season-high nine games over .500 and have a one-game lead over the Marlins for the second wild-card spot.

- Yadier Molina had three hits, extending his hitting streak to 13 games, and Jeremy Hazelbaker and Tommy Pham each contributed a two-run homer. Kolten Wong also had three hits and drove in two runs.

- Jaime Garcia will get the start in tonight's game, pitching on three days' rest for the first time in his career. Colin Rea, acquired in a trade from the Padres on Friday, will start for the Marlins.
