- The good news from Busch Stadium Sunday was the Cardinals left town to begin another road trip. The bad news is that It once again happened after a losing homestand.
- The A’s jumped on Jaime Garcia for two runs in the first inning, increased the lead to 5-1 on Stephen Vogt’s three-run homer in the third and defeated the Cardinals, who fell to 1-9 against AL teams at home after winning just two of six against the Mets and A’s. The overall home record fell to 30-37.
- Carlos Martinez will get the start tonight as the Cardinals open a series in Milwaukee. They also will play in Cincinnati and Pittsburgh before returning home.
