- Adam Wainwright's month of frustration continued Thursday night as he gave up seven runs in five innings in the Cardinals' 10-6 loss to the Mets at Busch Stadium.  Five of the runs were unearend because of errors by Jhonny Peralta and Greg Garcia. Wainwright has not won in his last seven starts dating back to July 16.

- The Cardinals lost despite hitting four home runs, two coming from Brandon Moss. Jedd Gyorko and Stephen Piscotty also homered in the ninth, the 11th time this season the Cardinals have hit four or more homers. The Cardinals have lost three of the last four times they hit four home runs, matching the total in 64 games with four or more homers since 2001.

- St. Louis native and Wentzville Holt graduate Ross Detwiler will make his second career start at Busch Stadium tongiht as the Oakland Athletics come to town for a three-game inter-league series. He also started a game here in 2012. Luke Weaver will make his third career start for the Cardinals, his first at home.

- The Blues officially named Alex Pietrangelo as their new team captain for this season on Thursday. The defenseman succeeds David Backes, who signed as a free agent with Boston.
