- Jedd Gyorko homered in both games of a doubleheader for the second time in a week Tuesday night as the Cardinals split the two games against the Mets in New York, winning game one 3-2 before losing 3-1 in game two.
- Gyorko became the first Cardinal to hit home runs in both games of a doubleheader twice in the same season since Stan Musial in 1949. The homers increased the Cardinals' season total to 138, one more than they hit all of last season. They have homered in 17 consecutive games.
- The Cardinals placed reliever Trevor Rosenthal on the disabled list on Tuesday because of inflammation in his right shoulder. Dean Kiekhefer was recalled from Memphis.
- Adam Wainwright will get the start tonight in the final game of the series against the Mets.
