- Playing small ball produced big results for the Cardinals on Wednesday night as they capitalized on infield hits, sacrifice bunts and three New York errors in a 9-1 win over the Mets at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals scored three runs in the third and four in the fourth, when they had only one hit out of the infield.
- Michael Wacha worked six innings, allowing the only New York run, to earn the victory. John Brebbia earned his first major-league save by pitching the final three scoreless innings.
- Carlos Martinez will face Noah Syndegaard in the final game of the series this afternoon.
