LEADOFF QUICK HITTER NEWS

Monday, Sept. 25, 2017

- Seung Hwan Oh and Brett Cecil each allowed a home run on Sunday that carried the Pirates to  4-1 win over the Cardinals in Pittsburgh, keeping the Cardinals' playoff chances hanging by a thread heading into the final week of the regular season. They trail the Cubs by six games in the NL Central and are 2 1/2 games back of the Rockies for the second wild-card spot with seven games to play.

- The Cardinals begin the final week with the first of four games against the Cubs tonight at Busch Stadium. Luke Weaver will get the start against Jon Lester.

- Second-period goals from Vladimir Tarasenko and Jordan Kyrou sent the Blues to a 4-1 pre-season win over the Pittsburgh Penguins Sunday night in Cranberry Township, Pa. Earlier in the day the Blues announced that forward Robby Fabbri will miss the rest of training camp after re-injuring his left knee that required season-ending surgery last year. He is expected to be re-evaluated in about 10 days.

- The Blues' pre-season schedule continues on Tuesday night with a game against the Blue Jackets in Columbus.
