LEADOFF QUICK HITTER NEWS

Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017

- The call to the bullpen produced another wrong number Tuesday night as the Padres scored six runs in the seventh inning en route to a 12-4 win over the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. Yangervis Solarte drove in six of the runs, the most ever by a Padres player in a game in St. Louis.

- It was the 12th consecutive game allowing five runs or more for the Cardinals, one away from tying the franchise record. The 1929 Cardinals allowed five or more runs in 13 consecutive games, a streak matched by the 2003 team.

- The Cardinals might know the results of a second examination on Trevor Rosenthal's elbow as early as today and a decision will then be made on whethe he will need surgery.

- Luke Weaver moves into the rotation tonight in place of the injured Adam Wainwright in the second game of the series.
