- Paul DeJong's three-run homer in the seventh inning, his seventh of the season, broke open a one-run game as the Cardinals completed a series sweep over the Reds today with a 9-2 victory at Busch Stadium.

- Miles Mikolas allowed just one earned run over seven innings as the Cardinals beat the Reds for the 11th consecutive time dating back to last season. They are 7-0 versus the Reds this year and a combined 6-8 against their other opponents, the Mets, Brewers, Diamondbacks and Cubs.

- Before the game the Cardinals placed Adam Wainwright on the disabled list because of inflammation in his right elbow and recalled John Brebbia from Memphis. 

- The Cardinals have the day off on Monday before opening a three-game series against the Mets at Busch Stadium. Wainwright had been scheduled to make that start but it will now be Luke Weaver.
