- Robert Bortuzzo scored his first goal of the season midway through the third period and the Blues held on to defeat the Avalanche 4-3 Thursday night in Denver to move to 6-2 on the season. Carter Hutton saved 38 of 41 shots, although he had no chance to stop two of their goals because of weird plays.

- Paul Stastny, Jaden Schwartz and Vince Dunn scored for the Bles in the second period. The goal was Stastny's 600th career point; Schwartz has six goals and six assists in the first eight games.

- The Blues will play their first game against the expansion Golden Knights Saturday night in Las Vegas.
