Aledmys Diaz will be the special guest at the Spring Training Bash sponsored by and Homewood Suites- Palm Beach Gardens (Jupiter, FL area) on March 8, 2017. Proceeds from the event will benefit Rainbows for Kids with a portion going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Foundation of Palm Beach County.

At the St. Louis Baseball Writers Dinner on Sunday night, Diaz was awarded the Cardinals Rookie of the Year award and Rob Rains, editor of presented it to him (shown right). During the time before the event they were having a conversation which went to Rainbows for Kids and Diaz volunteered to help out at the annual Spring Training event.

Rains is a board member of Rainbows for Kids, a 501 (c)(3) charity for families of children with cancer in the St. Louis area. His family started the charity and he helps lead an annual baseball team for the children complete with uniforms, practices, trophies and an "All-Star Game."

The Spring Training Bash is in its fifth year. After the game on March 8th, fans are invited to come to the Homewood Suites for a free party. There will be a silent auction including autographed baseballs, free food and drink (while supply lasts) and a special sports panel. The panel has become popular in the past few years, as Rains is joined by Mike Trim, a Hermann, Missouri native and Cardinals fan who is an anchor at the NBC affiliate, WPTV in Palm Beach. The two along with Diaz will talk about Spring Training and the upcoming Cardinals season. Fans are invited to ask questions and following the presentation they can get autographs for a donation.

Diaz has a special connection to Rainbows for Kids because he came to their 2016 All-Star Baseball Game. The children with cancer and their siblings from the St. Louis area got to spend a special day with the Cardinals player who pitched to them (picture at top of article) and interacted with them-- even taking a selfie (shown left) with them.

The event is open to all Cardinals fans who will be in the Jupiter area on March 8th. has a special discount code for the Homewood Suites (information is below).
