(By Suzanne Corbett) –In recognition of baseball’s Hot Springs’s connection, this year was the official dedication of Hot Springs Historic Baseball Trail, designating it as the birthplace of spring baseball. An unusual historic designation that’s taken some baseball fans by surprise that was the result of intensive research inspired by the curious Hot Springs connection of Babe Ruth.

- Michael Wacha pitched 5 2/3 scoreless innings and Ty Kelly drove in the game's only run with a sacrifice fly in the eighth inning Wednesday as the Cardinals beat the Nationals 1-0 in Jupiter. St. Louis native Max Scherzer worked six scoreless innings for the Nationals.

- The Cardinals will play the Marlins today with Adam Wainwright set to make his second start of the spring. 

- The Blues, who are off until Saturday, returned defenseman Petteri Lindbohm to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL on Wednesday, an indication that defensemen Carl Gunnarsson and Kevin Shattenkirk might be ready to play when the Blues host the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Blues have a one-point lead over Nashville in the Central Division with eight games to play in the regular season.
