- The Rams completed their first winless preseason since 2002 Thursday night with a 24-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at the Edward Jones Dome. Many of the team's regulars saw only limited action. The Rams must now cut their roster from 75 to 53 players by Saturday.
- After Thursday's day off, the Cardinals will open a three-game series against the second-place Pirates tonight at Busch Stadium. Carlos Martinez will pitch against J.A. Happ. The Cardinals have a 6 1/2 game lead over the Pirates.
