- The Cardinals defeated the Mets 5-4 and tied the Nationals 1-1 in Florida today in a pair of split-squad games. In Jupiter, John Lackey allowed one run in seven innings and Rafael Ortega hit two homers and drove in four runs. In Viera, Carlos Martinez allowed five hits and struck out six in five innings of work.

- The Cardinals will be on the road again on Saturday, traveling to Lakeland to play the Tigers. Lance Lynn is set to start on the mound.

- The Blues, battling for the top spot in the Central Division with Nashville, will host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Scottrade Center on Saturda night. Brian Elliott will get the start in goal and defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk is expected to return to the lineup. He has been out since Feb. 1 after suffering an abdominal injury during a game in Washington.

- The Blues trail the Predators by one point, 100 to 99, The Blues have eight games remaining in the regular season while the Predators have seven left on their schedule.
