- Yadier Molina got the news he wanted today when he was named to the Cardinals' roster for the Division Series against the Cubs. He hasn't played since Sept. 20 because of a torn ligament in his left thumb.
- Three of Molina's teammates were not as fortunate. Pitcher Randy Choate, infielder Pete Kozma and outfielder Peter Bourjos - all of whom had been on the roster for the entire season - were left off the 25-man squad that will take on the Cubs.
- John Lackey will get the start against his good friend and former teammate Jon Lester on Friday, the first time ever that the Cardinals and Cubs have met in the playoffs.
- The Blues open the regular season tonight against the Edmonton Oilers at Scottrade Center. Brian Elliott will get the start in goal. There are seven new players on the Blues' 23-man roster for the opener, including 19-year-old forward Robby Fabbri, who will be making his NHL debut. He was the Blues' first-round pick in the 2014 draft.
