 - After their second day off in 38 days on Thursday, the Cardinals return to action tonight as the Dodgers come to town to begin a three-game series at Busch Stadium. John Lackey will pitch the opener against Mike Bolsinger.

- First baseman Matt Adams is scheduled to undergo surgery for his torn muscle in his right thigh today. The Cardinals say he is expected to miss between three and four months.

- Outfielder Jon Jay completed his three-game rehab assignment at Class A Peoria on Thursday night and is expected to come off the disabled list before tonight's game. The Cardinals opened a spot on the roster on Thursday by optioning pitcher Miguel Socolovich to Triple A Memphis, going from 13 pitchers back to 12.
