- Kolten Wong’s fourth-inning grand slam carried Lance Lynn and the Cardinals past the Reds 4-1 Monday night at Busch Stadium, their sixth victory in their last seven games. It was Wong's second career grand slam and 11th homer of the season.

- The win allowed the Cardinals to match their season high of 29 games above .500 (64-35). They picked up a half-game on the idle Pirates and now lead the NL Central by 6 ½ games.

- Jaime Garcia will make his first start since June 24 tonight in the second game of the series. Mike Leake is scheduled to start for the Reds.
