- After a day off on Thursday, the Cardinals will host the Giants tonight in the opener of a three-game series at Busch Stadium. John Gant gets the start for the Cardinals, who lead the Rockies by 1 1/2 games for the second wild-card spot with nine games left in the regular season.

- The Blues play their first home pre-season game tonight, hosting Columbus at Enterprise Center. Vladimir Tarasenko is expected to play for the first time after sitting out the Blues first two games on the road.
