- Jordan Hicks earned the first win of his major-league career in dramatic fashion on Saturday, getting the last seven outs against the Reds at Busch Stadium, including a game-ending double play that completed the 4-3 victory.
- After the Cardinals surrendered a 3-0 lead in the top of the seventh, Yadier Molina hit his sixth homer of the year in the bottom of the inning to reclaim the lead. Paul DeJong and Dexter Fowler had homered to give the Cardinals the 3-0 lead.
- Carlos Martinez pitched six shutout innings, extending his scoreless streak to 18 consecutive innings, before coming out of the game for a pinch-hitter. Martinez has allowed only one earned run in his last 27 1/3 innings, covering his last four starts.
- Miiles Mikolas will try to complete the series sweep today. The Cardinals have won 10 consecutive games against the Reds dating back to last season.
