Catching Gyorko's Firs Home Run

Max Herndon, a student at Affton High School was at the ballpark with family celebrating his 15th birthday and had a night he won't soon forget. His parents and siblings were cold so they got up to walk around. While they were gone, he moved to the front row of the bleachers and ended up catching Gyorko's first home run. He was so excited when he caught it that his enthusiasm drew the attention of the Cardinals broadcasters on FOX Sports Midwest, and they talked about it and ran the video several times.

His birthday was on April 22 and he told his parents Matt and Michele Herman that all he wanted for his birthday was tickets to a game. Max Herndon's bare-handed catch landed him on the Cardinals' Instagram feed with the caption "sign this kid up."

His mother credits his baseball skill for the catch.

"All that work at right field for the Recruits Baseball Club and Affton High School is paying off!" she said. "What a memory."
