Game Report: Blues 4, Ducks 2

Winning consecutive games for the first time in more than a month has helped the Blues make the playoff race a little more interesting.

Ivan Barbashev had a goal and an assist to lead the Blues over the Ducks on Monday night in Anaheim, following their 7-2 win against the Kings in Los Angeles on Saturday. It’s the first time the Blues have won two games in a row since Feb. 8-9.

The Blues now have 79 points, trailing Colorado and Anaheim by one point for the final wild card playoff spot. The Avalanche will be the opponent in the Blues’ next game on Thursday night.

Robert Bortuzzo scored for the second game in a row for the first time in his career, and the Blues also got goals from Vladimir Sobotka and Patrik Berglund.

Jake Allen stopped 20 of 22 shots while Alex Pietrangelo added two assists.

Twice the Ducks cut the Blues’ lead to one goal in both the second and third period, but each time the Blues responded, first on Sobotka’s goal and then the one from Berglund in the middle of the third period to restore the two-goal lead.

Looking ahead:
The Blues will play their next two games at home, Thursday night against Colorado and Saturday night against the New York Rangers.
